Dr. Pauline Boachie-Ansah of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, together with a group of fellow alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi has donated 10 brand-new laptops to support the University’s Support One Needy Student with One Laptop (SONSOL) initiative.
The donation, according to Dr. Boachie-Ansah, was motivated by the urgent need to help students access digital tools essential for academic success. “Today’s university education relies heavily on technology,” she said. “Students need laptops for online learning, completing assignments, engaging in assessments, and working on theses.
She indicated that Professor Mariam El Boakye-Gyasi of the Department of Pharmaceutics facilitated the donation.
The SONSOL Project, an initiative led by the Vice-Chancellor Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, provides learning tools such as laptops to needy but brilliant students to facilitate their academic work.
Receiving the donations, the Vice-Chancellor expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Pauline Boachie-Ansah and her colleagues for their timely support.
“This gesture is not only thoughtful, but also a beacon of hope for many of our students,” she said. “It reflects the spirit of giving back and reminds our students that they are not alone in their academic journey.”
